The 10 Essentials
1. Find
a quiet beach – Plenty of quiet beaches to be
found not far away from Coral
Bay at the Akamas Peninsula, take a long swim before
breakfast, you might even see a turtle.
2.
Join a plate-breaking session in a Greek tavern -
This mayhem is not as common as it once was, but
local enquiries may lead to a venue.
3.
Walk a forest trail in the Troodos Mountains or Kyrenia
Hills until you are perspiring freely, then
sit down and have a picnic and enjoy the view. From
early January to late March it would be best to take
your skis as there is plenty of snow about!!

Have a full alfresco meze off the tourist track
- Be prepared to stay awake all night with a
distended stomach.

Mosaics at Paphos - Roman houses with
impressive and well preserved mosaics depicting
colourful scenes from Greek mythology.

Tomb of the Kings - A 100 tombs to see dating
from 3rd century BC, with good views over the
sea

Adonis Baths - one of the most beautiful and
unique areas in Cyprus, which according to Greek
mythology Adonis and Aphrodite had many children here.
8.
Pafos Aphrodite Waterpark - set within 35,000
sqm of natural landscaped grounds, which has a wide and
varied selection of rides.
9. Go
to the Roman theatre at Kourion - this is the
most important archaeological site in the Greek part of
the island, impressively perched on the cliffs.

The Baths of the Aphrodite - according to
legend, the Goddess Aphrodite used to take her beauty
baths in a pool of a natural grotto, shaded by a fig
tree, which can still be visited. Nature trails set off
from Akamas to lead nature lovers to incomparable views
of unspoilt land. |
